Lending Policy
Library materials are checked out for 14 days. You may renew an item either by phone or by stopping by the library. Any item can be renewed twice for a total borrowing time of 6 weeks unless there is a waiting list – then we ask that you not renew if possible.
Overdue Items
A fine of 2 cents is charged for every day that an item is late.The maximum fine for each overdue item is 50 cents. Patrons with overdue materials will receive notice via phone or mail. Materials that are overdue for six months or longer are considered lost and a bill for the replacement cost will be sent to the patron.
Amnesty Days
The first business day of each month is Amnesty Day. We also celebrate Fine Free Friday. Return any materials on this day and there will be no charge. There are no fines assessed on bookmobile books or for books left in our book drop.

Public Computer Access and WIFI
The Library has six public access computers for patron usage we also have free WIFI for patrons who wish to use their own devices. Patrons may use computers on a first-come first-served basis. Children under the age 16 must be accompanied by a legally responsible adult (parent, grandparent, guardian, teacher) if they wish to use the Internet. The Internet is an unregulated, ever-changing medium not under any government restrictions. The Summers County Public Library has no control over the resources of the Internet, nor does the Library have complete knowledge of what is on the Internet. While the Internet offers a wealth of material that is enriching to our lives, it also offers material that is offensive, disturbing, and/or illegal. Internet workstations’ display screens are in full view of all patrons; staff and users are not permitted to display any visual images containing nudity, obscenity, or graphic violence. Patrons will receive one warning regarding this rule; another violation will result in loss of Internet privileges. Acceptability of screen displays will be left to the discretion of the supervising library staff. In addition, patrons may not use the Library’s Internet connection for illegal purposes. The Library staff will instruct patrons in how to log on and off and in other basic procedures but will not provide in-depth training in Internet use. Patrons may print from the Internet at 20 cents per page.

Copies and Faxes
Copies are available for 20 cents per page (B/W and color).
